Terms of Service

Welcome to AirlockChat! We built this platform to ensure that trust online isn't rare. By accessing or using our application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use AirlockChat.

1. Eligibility & Identity Verification

To use AirlockChat, you must be successfully verified through DigiLocker. By using our platform:

  • You confirm you are at least 18 years of age.
  • You agree to submit accurate, up-to-date government verification information.
  • You agree that misrepresenting your identity, attempting to bypass our liveness check, or using documents belonging to another individual is a severe violation of these Terms resulting in an immediate and permanent ban.

Your display name will be set to the verified first name on your government ID, and this cannot be modified.

2. Consent-First Interactions

AirlockChat is built on the principle of mutual consent. You may not send unsolicited messages. A conversation can only begin once a chat request is mutually accepted.

  • You are limited to sending up to 10 chat requests per rolling 24-hour window.
  • You may not use the chat request feature to harass, spam, or solicit other users.

3. Acceptable Use and Content Rules

You retain ownership of the content you send, but you must respect our community standards. You agree NOT to use AirlockChat to send or share content that:

  • Is illegal, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or harassing.
  • Contains explicit, non-consensual sexual material, or promotes self-harm.
  • Involves commercial spam, scams, or malicious code.

4. Safety, Reporting, and Moderation

Because identity is verified, bad behavior has real consequences on AirlockChat. We employ a rigorous moderation system:

  • Reporting: Users can report conversations for violating our terms. Our review team will access the reported chat history to make fair moderation decisions.
  • Citations: If a report against you is confirmed by an administrator, a public citation will be permanently added to your profile (e.g., number of confirmed reports).
  • Strike System & Bans: We operate on a strict strike system. Accumulate 3 strikes, and you will be automatically and permanently banned from the platform. We reserve the right to issue an immediate ban without warning for severe rule violations.

5. Account Deletion and Restoration

You have the right to delete your account at any time through the app settings.

Important: Upon account deletion, your user profile data and chat records will be retained in a deactivated state for up to 14 days. During this 14-day window, you can fully restore your account and data simply by signing back into the app using your registered phone number. After this 14-day period expires, all of your associated personal data will be completely and permanently erased from our systems.

Note: Deleting your account does not clear confirmed reports or bans; identifying data (such as an encrypted device/ID hash) may be retained strictly to prevent banned individuals from creating new accounts.

6. Modification and Termination

AirlockChat reserves the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify users of significant changes. We also reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the service at our sole discretion, without liability, if you violate these Terms.

7. Governing Law

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Mumbai, India.
