Safety isn't a feature.
It's the foundation.
AirlockChat was built from the ground up around three non‑negotiable principles: verified identity, mutual consent, and transparent moderation.
Verified Identity
Every user on AirlockChat is verified through DigiLocker — the Indian government's official digital document wallet. During verification, your face is compared against your government ID photo. Your verified first name becomes your permanent display name — not a username you chose, but a name confirmed by the government.
This means there are no anonymous users on AirlockChat. No fake profiles. No catfishing. Every person you talk to has proven they are exactly who they say they are.
Optionally, you can also verify your LinkedIn profile for an additional “LinkedIn Verified” badge — a signal of professional credibility.
Mutual Consent
On AirlockChat, no one can message you unless you've agreed to chat with them. Here's how it works: someone finds your profile through your Airlock code, link, or QR code. They send you a chat request. You can accept, reject, or let it expire after 48 hours. Messaging begins only after both of you accept.
If you reject someone, they are never notified. They must wait 7 days before they can request again. Each user can send a maximum of 10 chat requests per day. There is no way to browse, search, or discover profiles without a specific Airlock code.
This eliminates spam, unsolicited messaging, and inbox flooding — especially on women's profiles.
Transparent Moderation
On most platforms, you report someone and nothing visible happens. On AirlockChat, moderation is transparent: every report is reviewed by our team within 24 hours. If confirmed, the report becomes a citation on the reported user's profile — visible to everyone.
Repeated confirmed reports lead to account strikes. Three strikes result in a permanent, irreversible ban. All admin actions are logged in an audit trail.
And one more thing: if someone blocks you, you can still report them. Blocking on AirlockChat can never be used to silence a victim or escape accountability.
What we store. What we don't.
And why.
We believe in radical transparency about data handling. Here is exactly what happens with your information.
- Your verified first name (from DigiLocker)
- A masked version of your document number (last 4 digits only)
- Your facial verification score
- A hashed, non-reversible session identifier
- Your profile photos (uploaded by you)
- Your messages (for delivery and moderation)
- Your full Aadhaar number or full document number
- Your full document photo or raw ID data
- Your full address
- Your DigiLocker password or login credentials
- Any raw data beyond the fields listed
On account deletion: All DigiLocker-related data is purged within 30 days. Messages are anonymized. Profile photos are deleted immediately. Media in conversations is cleaned up within 30 days.
Compliance:All data handling complies with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA).
